Protests around the world against Trump's immigration policy

On Saturday June 30, 700 peaceful, creative and strong events against Trump's “zero tolerance” immigration policy and the separation of immigrant families took place in the United States and around the world.

People gathered to demonstrate against the inhumane policies of the US and the more than 2,000 detained children who have been separated from their families.

Many protesters shouted "families must be together" and held signs reading "Abolish ICE" - the Immigration and Customs Agency - and "Zero tolerance for family separation."

The events were attended by citizens of the United States abroad, but also local residents who came together to protest the abuse of immigrant children.

"The idea of children in cages and asylum seekers in prisons and mothers separated from breastfeeding children, this goes beyond politics, it really is about what is right and what is wrong." said Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a Democrat from Washington State.

On Thursday, Jayapal was arrested along with more than 600 women during a protest organized by the Women's March.
