Itchy throat: Useful tips and DIY remedies with ingredients readily available at home to combat irritation, redness and itchy throat.

Itchy throat is a fairly common phenomenon, and the causes of this problem can be multiple, some quite serious, others not so. Sometimes itchy throat is accompanied by irritation and redness. The reasons for this symptom are various: food or respiratory allergies, atmospheric pollution, continuous climate changes, gastroesophageal reflux problems, laryngitis, pharyngitis, flu and tonsillitis ...

Itchy throat, useful recommendations

To combat itchy throat it is good to understand its causes. There is no single cure for itching, you have to act directly on the problem that triggered it. There are some simple steps we can take to reduce itching. In the meantime, we can:

  • Keep your throat hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids: water, herbal teas, centrifuged. Dehydration often prevents lubrication and protection of sensitive tissues. You should drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. In case of a cold or flu, it is vital to drink plenty of water: you lose a lot of fluids through sweating (fever) and a lot of mucus (sneezing and blowing your nose)
  • Avoid drinks that contain caffeine such as coffee, tea, and carbonated drinks, as they can cause dehydration
  • ventilate the rooms avoiding to create dry and stagnant air
  • If possible, use dehumidifiers
  • Beware of too dry foods that can make an already sore throat worse
  • Cut down on smoking: Cigarettes are bad for your throat and cause itching and irritation
  • Avoid screaming: When talking, screaming or singing too loudly, the throat becomes overloaded, causing dehydration and itching.

Against the itchy throat or the sensation of irritation that causes itching, we can resort to several natural remedies. In this regard we will show you the most effective ones with ingredients easily available at home.
